clarification maybe

Hi Brannon, good 4 minutes to keep us on our toes about mysticism and the mystical. I notice that you speak of mysteries in the OT which are revealled in the New. I don't know if you further clarify this in your DVD, I assume you do, but Paul's understanding of mystery is not something unknowable, which is usually the meaning given to mysticism, but something previously hidden but now revealled - eg the Church.
We can only hope and pray that more preachers would clearly expound Scripture so we'd be awake to the lies out there and respond appropriately.
In Christ.

The battle is with the children, and we can see how effective it is just by locking were we are now. Abraham Lincoln said, "what is tought in school in one generation will be the veiw of the government in the next." something like that.
the enemy has done just this, taking our children from use, and we let them!
I believe this is one of the main areas we need to focuse on. we know it works. Click here to reply to this post

Though public education is entirely void of any Christian training and filled with plenty of influence towards evil, even homeschooling parents and parents of chilldren in private Christian schools are losing their children to the ways of the world. Children in these settings are being influenced by the media -- especially television and movies and they are being entertained to death spiritually, instead of being trained to do or think anything of a constructive and productive nature. If parents disallow television and videos to rule their home, then they must train their children to do constructive and creative things. They must put some time and effort into raising their children, letting them work on things alongside them, and teaching them as they work. Too many parents are either too lazy and senseless themselves to really go out of their way to do this. For single parents, the job is nearly impossible. Click here to reply to this post
The "subtle" work of Satan is alive and well...

Beginning in Genesis, and Matthew, and Revelation... throughout, the work of Satan is continually described as "subtle". He subtly entered evangelical churches through apostate pastors/preachers. He continues working through wimpy elders/bishops and deacons. The words taught and preached in the pulpit are not lived by those speaking them. Sin is rampant in the church but there is no church discipline. Homosexuality/lesbianism are in the pulpit and blatantly sold by the "ordained". Church leaders are more intent on selling apostate teaching and chasing after men than seeking God's Truth and teaching the Word. Yes, the evil work of Satan is subtle but is becoming more and more blatant...as pseudo-believers buy in to the LIE.
Yes, I agree that the Church needs more Watchmen, but who is listening to the warnings? Oh, it is easy to see how many will be left behind when Jesus comes to "catch up" His church. Click here to reply to this post
Very True

First I would like to say that this is very true. The movements today are moving more towards mysticism than simply Scripture. Also I want to thank Christian Worldview Network. Every issue I've had with debatable topics have been solved by CWN. Click here to reply to this post
Greatest everyday threat

The greatest daily threat to our youngsters
is public education. If you'll read the
history, philosophy and methodology being
used today, it's "killing" the spiritual
life of your children. This procedure is
based on the humanism religion. It has
the children for 25-30 hours a week, while
parents take a fraction of that time to
give them proper Christian teaching. The
church has them for 1 hour a week.
It's a losing battle unless familes "go all out" to counteract it. Click here to reply to this post
Mystic, Mysticism, Mystery?

I've spent a lot of time going over this very same issue in my walk with Christ and I think many of us haven't bothered to clearly define any of these terms. I think there is a fear that somehow New Age and Neo-Paganism own these words and we've become fearful of the terms. I myself can see the red light go off in my mind when these words are used. We have to be careful with our choice of words. Yes, words do have meaning. Words also change meaning and it gets very confusing to draw the lines clearly. That's why it's so important to define the terms properly and in context. I think to really discuss this issue we have to go farther than even the dictionary definition of mystic and mysticism. If you mean a transcendent relationship with God, okay. God provided that through Christ and the bestowing of the Holy Spirit. He did the transcending. I don't really have a problem with that. If by mystic and mysticism you are referring to esoteric forms of secret occult practices that earn you some kind of elite standing with the god you think you worship then I have a very big problem with it. We need to reject that kind of nonsense in all of it's forms. I also know that there is a deeply spiritual aspect of the Christian faith that goes beyond limited human comprehension that you could label as transcendent. I believe in a God that will never fit into my limited concept of Him. I believe that my faith is a sound and reasonable faith that, through the work of Christs atoning sacrifice, connects me to an awesome, unfathomable God. I cringe at the the seeker sensitive nature of the Emergent Church that waters down Biblical truth to make Christianity more palatable. Many in the movement have tried to repackage the truth in such a way as to make it more "consumer friendly." The movement has tried to make the Bible more relevant. Making scripture more relevant is a bit like trying to make pure salt saltier. Having said that, I also think that we as Christians cannot reject the fact that a life lived with God is a spiritual experience, not just something we read or think about. I believe with my whole heart that Scripture is God breathed and is our standard for all things. The final say belongs to God through His Word and any spiritual (or mystical) experience that goes counter to Scripture must be seriously questioned and eventually rejected. It's fine to exspound upon what is killing the Body of Christ in America and around the world. But shouldn't the question be raised,... WHERE WERE THE WATCHMAN? We Need more like David Wilkerson, Carter Conlon and Paul Washer. The Pastors have been asleep and the enemy has been allowed to slither in,now we're fighting for our spiritual lives,. MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON HIS LAZY WATCHMAN. Click here to reply to this post

I agree with the writer concerning the watchers on the wall, but I would further add that although I do believe some have been appointed to be the "watchers" it is the sole responsibility of every holy spirit filled believer to know the Word of God inside and out. As individual believers, parents, teachers, husbands and wives we need to be so immersed into the Truth that when the subtle lies of the enemy begin to show up in our churches spoken through the mouths of our pastors and others, we will recognize these false teachings. The Emergent Church and all of it's hazy post-modern philosophies are not new teachings.Unfortunately many Christians are used to being spoon fed and have not truly come to "own" their faith. Do most Christians really know why they believe what they believe? How deep is the spiritual walk of most believers? It is our responsibility as individual believers to defend the Truth, and to fight for purity of the Word in our individual congregations. We need to get behind and support those who have been called the watchers and to do all we can to defend the gospel ourselves. Click here to reply to this post
